Types of Level 2 Charging.

240Volt Plug in Outlet (NEMA 14-50)

This setup uses a 240-volt outlet similar to an electric range or RV outlet but its rated for EV Charging. Your EV charger plugs into the receptacle, making it a flexible and lower-cost option for Level 2 charging.

Because EV charging is considered a continuous load under the National Electrical Code (NEC), a 50-amp circuit is limited to 40 amps of continuous charging. This works well for many EVs, but if your vehicle or charger requires 48-amp charging, a hardwired wall charger is required instead of a plug-in outlet.

Great for homeowners looking for dependable Level 2 charging with a more budget-friendly installation option.
